Built in 1880…

Villa Brecht was built in 1880. Around the turn of the century, an English gentleman and the namesake of Villa Brecht, acquired the home and moved there with his Indian butler. It is told that Signore Brecht had a corner of the garden enclosed by a tall fence, and he brought to the Villa a tiger from India.

After the gentleman passed away, his Indian butler and the tiger left, and the home was abandoned for many years. Eventually the house was sold and given another life. It was purchased by the current family in 1968 and newly renovated in 2022.

Villa Brecht - costruita intorno al 1880 - ha avuto vari  proprietari che si sono succeduti nel corso del tempo.

Il nome della casa è legato al Signor Brecht che acquistò la casa intorno all’anno 1906. Si dice che il Signor Brecht, distinto signore inglese, ormai non più giovane, si trasferì nella casa assieme ad un maggiordomo indiano e che fece costruire un grande recinto, in una parte isolata del giardino, per ricoverarvi una “bestia feroce”. Qualcuno diceva che la “bestia feroce” fosse una tigre, fatta recapitare al Signor Brecht da un amico che viveva in  India.

Dopo la morte del gentiluomo inglese, la casa rimase per molti anni abbandonata e poi, dopo essere stata venduta all’asta per ordine del Tribunale di Lucca  (forse su richiesta dei creditori del Signor Brecht) tornò a nuova vita. Intorno agli anni ’60 la casa rimase nuovamente disabitata e fu acquistata dagli attuali proprietari nel 1968.

L’ultima ristrutturazione e risistemazione si è conclusa nel 2022.
